On-site of the 2025 China-UK Seminar on The International Journal of Healthy Space
On May 24, 2025, the Joint Lab of Healthy Space (co-founded by the University of Edinburgh, UK, and Beijing Institute of Technology, China) hosted the seminar at University of Edinburgh, with the two universities serving as co-hosts, and Mr. Zheng Jinbiao, the Chairman of Hualin Wells Publishing Group, was invited to attend.
During the seminar, Hualin Wells Publishing Group officially registered and launched The International Journal of Healthy Space—a new academic platform dedicated to research in the field of healthy space.
The launch of The International Journal of Healthy Space aims to fill the academic gap in healthy space research, with key research directions including urban healthy environments, health-oriented spatial design, and sustainable living spaces. A highlight of the seminar was the announcement of the journal’s editorial board members, all of whom are core experts from the Joint Lab:
Professor Simon Bell (University of Edinburgh), UK Director of the Joint Lab of Healthy Space, serves as Chief Editor;
Professor Yang Jianming (Beijing Institute of Technology), Chief Advisor of the Joint Lab of Healthy Space, serves as Associate Editor;
Associate Professor Sun Ziwen (Beijing Institute of Technology), Chinese Director of the Joint Lab of Healthy Space and Tenured Associate Professor, serves as Managing Editor.
Introduction to The International Journal of Healthy Space

Professor Simon Bell
After the seminar, Hualin Wells Publishing Group signed a cooperation agreement with Professor Simon Bell of the University of Edinburgh. Meanwhile, Professor Simon Bell emphasized the value of The International Journal of Healthy Space: "this journal will connect scholars engaged in healthy space research worldwide and promote knowledge sharing between Eastern and Western academic communities."
In addition, the editorial board revealed that the first issue of The International Journal of Healthy Space is scheduled to be officially published in early 2026, and the journal will adopt an open access model to ensure the wide dissemination of cutting-edge research results.
The holding of this seminar not only further strengthened the academic cooperation between the University of Edinburgh and Beijing Institute of Technology but also built an important international platform for advancing healthy space research. It will attract relevant scholars and practitioners worldwide to participate in research in this field.
